A bit challenging to find since two businesses merged into one building. Ordered takeout and the wait was nearly double the promised 10-minutes because the food was up with no one to bring it out. It was interesting to browse the store while we waited. I had never been in a “Halal” store before.
Yes, the store is open. The entrance is on the left. I placed the order over the phone. The chicken and beef platters were ready in 10 minutes. Omgeverything was delicious. The meat was layered atop the saffron rice, with salad, pita bread, and tzatziki and hummus. I just wish it was closer so I can be a regular patron.
The lamb shawarma was a defrosted gyro. The hummus was less dip more soup. The fries never seen salt in their lives. A colorful dish so devoid of flavor made me lose my appetite. Plus it was pretty hot in there with no AC.
The food is so good that it’s worth sorting out the confusion. Do not look for “Kabob and Gyro Grill.” Look instead for “East West Market.” If you enter through the right most door you enter a space that looks like it was once intended to be a sit-down restaurant that did not survive the pandemic. One may eat here I’m sure but two stars for atmosphere is over generous. Plan to order take out. THAT will be a fabulous meal.
5 stars worth. I am already planning my next trip.
Quite possibly the most flavorful chicken shawarma Ive ever had. The sauce was creamy and the meat was perfectly grilled and tender. The size was great for the price paid! Very friendly and respectable staff and very easy to order over the phone. Come support this wonderful small business!
