About
Omar Bin Al-Khattab Islamic Center (OBKIC) officially commenced its journey as an Islamic Center in March 2022. However, our roots trace back to a humble community center established in the South Seattle area back in 2003. The facility we occupied at the time was demolished and converted into town homes by real state developers. Left displaced by gentrification our community came together to purchase and renovate our current facility located in the Skyway area of South Seattle. We have now blossomed into a vibrant center serving the needs of community members in the greater Seattle area.
Our offerings encompass a diverse range of services, including religious education for individuals of all age groups, daily congregational prayers, and engaging social activities tailored to youth and families. Beyond these services, we aim to be a beacon, fostering a nurturing environment for our community to build meaningful connections and lasting unity. At OBKIC, we believe in fostering a strong sense of belonging, and we invite you to be part of our journey as we continue to grow and enrich the lives of those we serve.
Omar Bin Al-Khattab Islamic Center - named after the second Rashidun caliph opened on March 19, 2022. OBK Islamic Center opened its doors owing a debt of roughly $250,000. With the collective donations of our community members, the center was able to pay off the owed balance in a period of 18 months.
The center receives over 300 regular congregants and over 200 youth that attend services and participate in programs on a weekly basis.
We have also added to our digital footprint by providing high definition videos pertaining to all aspects of the Islamic faith, along with a presence across various other social media platforms.
We pursue this mission with the intentions of pleasing Allah and adhering to the teachings and values of the Sacred Quran and of our beloved Prophet Mohammed (pbuh).
Use the Islamic tradition to create and uphold an active, welcoming and charitable Islamic center to enhance the lives of individuals, families, and communities in the greater Seattle area.

If you are looking for a masjid with little to no Freemixing, then this is the one ️
The glass when lights are turned off or dimmed, means the men can’t see in, so it offers a lot of privacy while still being able to be apart of the lectures or Salah without physically being there. And also, they have multiple TVs to display the men’s side so we can follow Salah and look at the Shaykh and all their TVs work!
