During the troubled times of late 2001, when Muslim in USA were facing difficult challenges, I establish Masjed Qooba (Qooba foundation) with the help of few community members to serve: social, educational, and religious needs of Muslim refugees and underserved population of the city of St. Louis. We have been providing these services that includes (but not limited to) teaching and counseling children and youth of our community as well as maintaining the physical and spiritual aspect of the Masjed free of charge without interruption in absence of big donors in our refugee community. During last 20 years our Muslim population in the city has grown so is our needs. Therefore, few years back we decided to purchase a big piece of land (at junction of South Jefferson avenue and Highway 44) to establish a permanent Masjid and Islamic school for the underserved Muslim population, alhamdullilah. After a very hard and long struggle against Islamophobes... we were successful in getting approval for the masjid plans from the city of Saint Louis, MO. During this time the price tag for the construction has sky rocketed and seems like beyond our approach. But we have not given up and will keep trying our best with the Help of Allah to establish a Masjid and Dawah center for our future generation.
