My family heard about AMAX Travel from friends who had previously traveled with them for umrah and had a great experience. After speaking directly with Rafay bhai, we learned that AMAX Travel has been in business for 25 years and assured us that they knew what they were doing and would handle the logistics.

However, after we paid for the package, the level of communication and transparency decreased dramatically. My husband and I had to constantly message, call, and send voice notes with questions and request updates. The first issue was with the visa issuance. We learned there was an issue with the hajj visas from social media, and confronted the team about it and they told us not to worry. By Allah’s miracle, AMAX team was able to secure a visa and we were able to go to hajj احد .

Once we reached, we noticed there was a significant difference in service quality. Those who paid for a premium package received more open communication versus those who paid for a gold package. There was a lack of communication and transparency throughout hajj and there were logistical errors as well. We had our first ummrah orientation in Medinah and had our first hajj orientation in Makkah. There were no prior lectures or hajj prep beforehand due to the uncertainty of the visa.

We were pleasantly surprised that we were upgraded from our Maktab A mina camp to the Kidana Towers. This was a great experience.

Once hajj started, our group Imam recommended that it is better to do Tawaf Al-Ifadah on Dhul Hijjah 11th and not on the 10th since it’s very crowded. This was also listed on our schedule for the day. Surprisingly, the imam and the group leaders took a small group of people to Makkah after Jamarat to complete the Tawaf Al-Ifadah, while the rest of the group got separated from the leaders and got lost on the way back to Mina.

AMAX Travel consistently created subgroups within our groups and gave them priority. There were many times when we got separated from the group. It is just surprising that with a group of 70 hajjis, the group leaders couldn’t keep everyone together.

Some of the group leaders have a very individualistic way of thinking. On the 3rd day of Jamaraat, one of the group leaders took a small group of people to Makkah on foot since our bus was delayed for over 2 hours. He never came back to assist with the other hajjis and we had many elderly people in our group that were in a bad condition. When we were about to hit hour 3 of waiting by the road for the bus, the group finally called for a taxi to take us back to the hotel. However, this was a private taxi that didn’t know how to take us back, and it had no fuel. We kept calling the group leaders to help us with the taxi driver, as he kept taking us further and further away from our hotel. After 45 minutes, one of the group leaders finally picked up the phone and was able to set up a meeting point with their own driver, which took another 45 minutes. I was suffering from a heat rash, which had gotten very severe. It’s been two weeks, and I am still recovering from it.

As a travel agency, we depended on them for logistics and guidance throughout Hajj, which I felt it was not met. On some of the toughest days, leadership was lacking. The fact that there were sub groups that followed their own schedules apart from the main schedule for the rest of the group should be stopped as it created a lot of separation within the group and logistical issues for the team. We also did not have a female scholar for the women, but also created some difficulty on the womens side. Please take this as constructive criticism.

I am grateful that we were able to complete our hajj, but I will not be traveling with AMAX Travel again, nor would I recommend this agency for hajj. جزا اُ خرا for your efforts.

From first call I made to Amax travel until I came back from my hajj its been amazing experience all agent car provide 5 star hotel like fairmont but when it come to Mina and Jamarat part Amax did fantastic job. we just find out we were the only peoples from North America who was getting hotel accommodation in Mina and from starting of jamarat to end Amax staff was with us until we get to hotel thanks for taking care us like your family for this blessing journey of hajj
