This place is a gem! From the friendly staff to the amazing flavours, boishakhi is the best dining experience I have had in all of nyc! I highly reccomend the mango lassi, chicken kebab, and the potato bortha. Will be coming back her until I eat everything on the menu!
Boishakhi Restaurant Bengali Flavors in the Heart of Astoria
I stopped by Boishakhi Restaurant in Astoria, and it absolutely hit the mark. Everything we ordered was packed with bold flavor and felt like true Bengali comfort food.
I started with the Chicken Bihari, and wow it was tender, full of flavor, and far from your average chicken dish. It had a smoky, well-balanced spice that made it anything but boring.
Then came the Beef Tehari, and it was incredible. The rice was rich, aromatic, and deeply satisfying my taste buds, genuinely happy. The tamarind sauce on the side added the perfect tangy contrast.
I also tried a samosa, and I immediately wished I had ordered more. It was perfectly flaky with a light crunch, and the filling was flavorful with just a little kick. One was not enough!
Parking in the area can be a bit of a challenge, but its worth it Astoria is full of amazing food spots, and Boishakhi is definitely one of them. We spent about $30 total, which was more than enough for two people (even three could share).
Thats the beauty of NY so many places like this keeping it real, authentic, and full of heart. If youre anywhere near Astoria and craving something flavorful and satisfying, make sure Boishakhi is on your list.
Everything here was good. Not much to be said to be honest. If you look at who’s eating here, it is all ethnic people, and a ton of older people as well. That should tell you that this place is definitely authentic. I enjoyed every single dish that I had here; I was recommended to eat at this place by a Bangladeshi friend. I was not disappointed.
My favorite dishes were the samosas and the chicken lollipops. The chicken lollipops were an Indo-Chinese sort of dish with a savory sauce a crunchy exterior. The samosas were perfectly seasoned and slightly crispy. Tandoori chicken was also excellent and well-seasoned throughout the outside and interior.
The only fault I could really find was that the biriyanis did not have too strong of a flavor profile, but that is to be expected since it is more so a vessel to eat with the other dishes, which were all amazing. Atmosphere could technically improve but I could care less if they have excellent food.
I really have no complaints about this place. Upstairs was packed but we were able to eat downstairs and enjoy our large meal. I will definitely remember this spot.
Theres food is so much awsom other then Sout asian restaurant.
Amazing and delicious food!!! Im really sad I got super full and couldnt eat everything All the employees are lovely and the owner and her son are so sweet as well. The restaurant is beautiful inside!! Im excited to come back and try more dishes!!!! ❤️
