This is a small Lebanese joint with a busy oven. Its technically a bakery. Its like you went to the Middle East in a Beirut neighborhood or Egyptian or Saudi strip mall. The food is traditional Lebanese and has an Arabic influence. Pies, veggies and lebnah, very tasty at great prices. This is a rare find and I think for Claremont ita a beauty to have such a rare shop in its back yard.
Al Amir ambiance is warm and inviting, with traditional Lebanese flatbreads items that transport you straight to Beirut. The service was prompt and friendly.
We visited this restaurant today and checked the website beforehand, which stated they close at 5 PM. When we arrived at 2:11 PM, they told us they were closing at 3 PM due to Eid. While we understood the early closure, we were surprised that they only allowed takeout and wouldnt let us eat there, even though there were still 50 minutes left. We only needed a short time for eating , so this was disappointing.
