About
Masjid Al Quran has served as a place and home for spiritual solace and development to a diverse Muslim community that resides in the Dentsville, Arcadia Lakes, and Springdale areas of metro Columbia since 2002, where about 80 Muslim families live and work in a ten mile radius, and offer prayer at the property at 6411 Shakespeare Road, Columbia, SC, which serves as our mosque. Our humble beginning started in 1988, as a musalla in a rented house, on Broad River Road, when the, then growing, Muslim community felt the need for another praying place to offer congregation prayers.
This musalla was elevated to the status of a Jumma masjid in 1989, and was named as Masjid Al Quran.
In 1990, the lease was lost and the masjid had to be moved to Olympia Avenue in a 3 room apartment, while Jumma prayers were
still offered in the nearby Islamic Centre. For logistic reasons, the masjid was again moved to Fort Jackson Chapel and later to a 1,500 sq. ft. house, until the present place was founded to fill the void where there was no masjid in a 8 miles distance for approximately 40 families that lived in the area.
For 16 years, we were unable to expand due to not having enough space for a parking lot. However, we now own an acre of land, which is enough to build a new masjid with proper parking space, with the goal to build a modest masjid that will serve and enlighten our kids and growing community, and house a maktab/madressa for our young and old to learn Quran and our Deen, and to be a beacon house to society at large, promoting peace, harmony and respect.
Goals
Inshallah to:
• Establish a masjid as commanded by Allah (SWT) and according to the sunnah of Nabi (SWS) as a place of worship and
remembrance of Allah (SWT)
• Promote and establish Dawah
• Establish a center of learning and teaching faith, values, practices and conduct
• Provide and promote Khidmah in practice and through serving the whole of society, both Muslims and Non-Muslims

Simple and small place away from the city life. Nothing fancy. The Masjid founder is very welcoming. You come, pray, talk, and leave. Zero politics and zero racism. Everyone is welcome.
