The Shawnee Mission Islamic Education Center (SMIEC), an IRS 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, is registered in the State of Kansas. We have completed the remodeling work, and our new Masjid Maryam opened its door for Salat-al-Jum’ah on September 18, 2020. As the pandemic situation improves and restrictions are lifted, we will begin our full schedule of activities.
Our Vision
SMIEC will serve as a central resource for meeting the religious and educational needs of Muslims residing in the northcentral and western Johnson County, Kansas and neighboring communities.
Our Mission
SMIEC will offer Islamic religious services to area Muslims.
In addition, it will provide assistance to area youth and adults for successful career by providing:
English language instructions (ESL)
Counseling to high school students to prepare them for college
Guidance in competing for educational scholarships
Tutoring in English, Science, and Math. to improve their chances for attending higher education institution
Offer weekend Islamic academy for children
